Each week, in addition to the links you can see by spying on my Google Reader, I compile a list of posts that interested me and post them here on Saturday. You can check out the ABDPBT Personal Finance, ABDPBT Tech, and ABDPBT Commodity Fetishism versions at your leisure as well. If you have any posts that were great that I missed, please send me an email and I’ll check it out before next week.

  • Well, it looks like I picked the wrong year to stop watching the MTV Music Video Awards, but this recap of the Kanye West drama is insightful and poses some interesting questions about why even colossal narcissistic jackassery can be overshadowed by the racism some people think it allows them to harbor. For example:

Some of these posts call for West to be lynched. All of them refer to West as a “nigger.” History has frequently demoed that, when you add a blond, blue-eyed, white female like Swift to that mix, whose honor the mob is duty-bound to protect, somebody Black will inevitably water the courthouse lawn with his blood.

I tend to agree. Kanye, you’re a first-class douchebag, but you’re our douchebag. Some of this stuff smacks of OJ Simpson being made to look “more black” on the cover of Newsweek in the wake of his arrest for killing his wife. Still, this article has an interesting take on the real tragedy of the Kanye West Incident — the media aftermath that suggests we should applaud artificially created Disney stars winning fake awards. Chuckle.

  • Hey, how about we stop talking about Kanye for a few minutes and checkout this free, downloadable paper iPhone/iPod dock. How cool is that? Via Design Milk.
  • Play-Doh ads in Singapore are weird and freaky. Seriously. Check it out. Shiver.
