Sure, I’d shell out $6K for that…

If I’d spent that much on that thing, I’d expect the former contents of the sack to be included, gratis.

…and also, I’d wear it with jeans everyfuckingwhere for at least a year. I can’t help thinking, as well, that coupled with some rag scraps tied into my hair it would make an awesome voodoo doll getup on Halloween.

pee ess….how much did you love Simon’s prissy little bitchfit in the carrrr?

Kerry April 22, 2009 at 5:07 am

I would admire her sense of humor if it weren’t for the price.

That bag just doesn’t go with the dress. Sarcasm WIN. Sack dress FAIL.

Now when I say I have no idea what $6,000 looks like, I have a point of reference.

foradifferentkindofgirl (fadkog)´s last blog post..i was going to title this post ‘it sucked and then i cried’ but apparently there’s a book out there with that title, so now i’m stumped

They have bags like that at Whole Foods I think. I smell a photo parody in the works.

Kerry April 22, 2009 at 7:29 am

They DO have bags like that at Whole Foods. If I remember right, you buy one and the proceeds feed 100 starving people (the bag is, like, $50 or something). I can’t imagine where the other $5950 went.

jenni April 22, 2009 at 9:27 am

that thing is so fucking ugly. and her make up is totally drag queen.

SoMo April 22, 2009 at 9:40 am

When I saw that, I turned to my husband and told him that if he ever spent that kind of money on something like that I would punch him in the face.

I don’t get it. I mean if you want to donate money just donate it. You don’t need to be rewarded with a sack.

And it was $7000.00. Not that that $1000 makes a difference or does it? I hope those kids got the food that was in that sack.

@SoMo, you are right! I should have gone back and checked, but once you go over like $1, I suppose it doesn’t matter how much the burlap sack you are wearing cost.

Kerry April 22, 2009 at 11:52 am

Okay, I just watched the episode in which they buy the top. Apparently the money is going to the charity itself. Plus, she’s advertising for the charity by wearing it. So I’m okay with that.

I’m married to a fundraising executive though, so I’m obviously soft on crime when it comes to this stuff.

I have to agree with Heather though–the bag does not work at ALL.

@Kerry, no, you are wrong. There is nothing that can justify this choice of clothing. And besides, you know those two douchebags are just excited about going to a designer’s showroom in New York that you have to get buzzed into. They don’t care about the charity. Also, did you notice last week how somebody introduced Simon as the “owner” of whatever hotel? And nobody bothered to correct the person? Priceless.

Kerry April 22, 2009 at 12:49 pm

I did notice that bit about him owning the hotel. Apparently, he’s just the manager.

Actually, I can’t quite figure out how they afford their lifestyle on the jobs they have (or had, since she’s unemployed now). They must have inherited money or something, because otherwise, it doesn’t add up.

anna April 22, 2009 at 12:58 pm

I think they bought that brownstone in Brooklyn before the prices went up, and it’s supposedly not a great neighborhood. Now that they’re on the show, though, I think they make like $5,000 a day or something when they’re filming.

Kerry April 22, 2009 at 1:10 pm

Holy crap.

For $5K/day, I am totally willing to be on The Real Housewives of Milwaukee. They could film me buying cheese curds, shopping the Kohl’s clearance rack, admiring my neighbor’s lawn ornaments, bowling…

Heather April 22, 2009 at 2:04 pm

This was for a charity? Sorry, I don’t watch the show, I saw one episode, I couldn’t stomach the fact that a mother would let her 14 yr old daughter go to rehab for her weight. And she wasn’t even fat! And I have issues with “wearing your charity”. I don’t believe in those bracelets or sporting clothing that screams “Oh look at me! I gave money to so and so! I’m such a good doer!” Ok for some reason, as I read more and more comments, the more enraged I am becoming over this photo. LOL :D

prmom88 April 22, 2009 at 8:44 pm

Am I the only old enough to remember that episode of I Love Lucy where Lucy and Ethel are in Paris, and Ricky and Fred convince them to wear burlap sacks in public because they were from famous designers?

The Lawyer Mom April 23, 2009 at 9:32 am

Oh. Oh. You were talking about the clothes. I thought “it” was the boobs.

SoMo:

>I don’t get it. I mean if you want to donate money just donate it. You don’t need to be rewarded with a sack.

I apologize in advance for singling you out, but you touched on a nerve a bit for me. People who donate those large amounts of money deserve to get something for their trouble. Otherwise, you’re basically saying “You (or your husband) better work hard, figure out our capitalistic society, make a lot money and then just give it to everyone else without expecting anything in return!”

There’s not a lot of fun in that. Us Average Joes can’t and won’t do it. So why should the wealthy? Getting a useless bag that is not now nor will ever be trendy much less that it cost like $50 bucks to make isn’t too much to ask in return. Either is a nice three hour dinner.

PunditMom April 25, 2009 at 11:47 am

I am so making sure my mom, who is a great seamstress, starts making these — she’d make a bundle if she sold them for, oh, $50 a piece?? My dad is a farmer, so there are PLENTY of burlap hanging around!

rebecca April 25, 2009 at 8:54 pm

I like the outfit (minus the purse). And the skirt came separate from the top, so $7K for the corset alone (or in that guy’s words, “$7,000 for three feet of material.”). But whatever. From a fashion point of view, it’s not all that new, but I still like it. Okay, maybe I don’t like the suspenders. Wait. I’m confused. Do I like it or not?

I like that couple though. They seem more honest about their intent. It grosses me out, but I much prefer the truth. Holy cow! I think I’m just too simple to figure this crap out.
