What you’re thinking is, who cares about a shampoo? Or, alternatively, it doesn’t matter what kind of shampoo you use, it’s all about the conditioner. I know. I used to feel the way you do. But then I tried Kérastase Bain Volumactive, from their Resistance line, which is for people with extremely fine, baby-hair-on-an-adult locks, like me. You see, my hair is prone to flyaways and what I call “sucking to my head.” The lack of volume has been a problem that has plagued me my entire life, and prompted me to have a perm in high school, which is like, uh, so unbelievably lame, even if it was the late eighties.
So when I heard that there was a shampoo that might give me more volume, I was like, “sign me up.” And it does. And it’s expensive, but I don’t care. I will pay to have my hair stop sucking to my head. And, yeah, I know Dooce is pimping Kérastase products these days, but I’ll tell you right now that she is a johnny-come-lately. Oh yeah, I was out selling pints of my own plasma to buy this stuff back in the day when she was still getting nauseous from the smell of Clairol Herbal Organics. Go on. Check the archives. You heard it here first.
