.
Assemble your materials: a wrapped present, scissors, and double-sided ribbon (this ribbon has different colors on each side, but all you need to do is make sure both sides are finished so that all of the ribbon looks nice when the bow is done.

.
Wrap the ribbon around the box lengthwise to determine how much you need. I usually use at least two and a half times around the box (long side) as a guide, but it is better to over estimate, obviously.

.
Cover top of box with ribbon and hold in center with thumb. Leave approximately a box length of ribbon at bottom of box.

.
Wrap the top half or “working end” of the ribbon around the box to your thumb. Hold both ribbons with your thumb.

.
Where your thumb is, cross the ribbon over it at a 45° angle. I am using my index finger because it’s hard to do this and take a picture of it at the same time, unless you have a third arm. HEY GET YOUR MIND OUT OF THE GUTTER.

That part you just folded over? Well, keep on going around the box, width wise.

.
Now, this is the tricky part. The ribbon you just brought around the box? Tuck that in around itself and the bottom ribbon,

so that it ends up going lengthwise and up, holding both ribbons with it.

.
Tighten everything. Then make two loops–one out of each end of ribbon.

.
Now tie the loops together, like you did when you were first learning how to tie your shoes.

.
Tighten and futz with the bow to make it look perfect.

.
Cut off ends if they are uneven or too long. If you want to be exactly like Tiffany bows, cut the ends straight across, and then make a V-shaped knotch in the end of the ribbon.
