Freedom Keeps You Off The Web And Undistracted. Whether You Like It Or Not.

Last week I wrote about using a desktop text editor for blogging, and I cannot tell you how much it has increased my productivity. Not only is it helpful because I don’t have to deal with the temperamental internet connection while writing, but also the act of disconnecting myself from the internet, even if it’s only a few clicks away, makes for a much more productive writing experience.

If you want to really remove yourself from the internet, though, you can use Freedom, a program for both Mac and Windows that will completely remove your ability to get onto the web for up to 8 hours at a time.

Just thinking about it kind of makes me nervous, actually.

I suppose this application would be best suited for those individuals who are unable to tear themselves away from the internet to actually get things done in life. I, on the other hand, am like you. It makes me nervous just to think about locking away the internet from myself.

I have no problem walking away from the internet and all its wonders for hours or even a few days at a time. But to know that it is locked away and I can’t access it doesn’t sit well with me.
