Here’s A Super Easy Way to Generate A Gradient Image
Ever wanted to use gradient images, like the one above, on your website? Gradient images can be used for a variety of different things in web design: as backgrounds for images or buttons, in light colors they often appear behind sidebars to add some style to your widgets, in small sizes they can be used as borders between the different sections of your website, or as overlays and backgrounds, they can be used add some texture to your images. Here’s how you can get a gradient image to use on your website without having Photoshop or a host of stock images from which to choose: go to Dynamic Drive’s Gradient Tool Generator and enter in some parameters for the gradient you want to generate. To use the generator, all you need to do is enter two different color codes, choose the type of gradient you want (does the color change go vertically, horizontally or diagonally?) and choose how big of an image you want to create.
For example, for the header picture, I used the diagonal gradient option with four different colors, two green and two blue. If you are trying to generate a gradient to use for your sidebars, you are probably going to want to use lighter colors that are close together, like two a barely-there grey fading into white. In the coming posts, I’ll show you how to use these gradient images and CSS to add some new features and textures to your website and pictures, so stay tuned.
