Peekaboo Barn App(lication) for iPhone

Peekaboo Barn App(lication) for iPhone

I found out about Peekaboo Barn from Ohdeedoh (Apartment Therapy’s baby and kids blog). Basically, it serves as an extra tool in my distracting-Mini kit–at a restaurant before the food comes, or waiting in line at the grocery store, for example. Peekaboo Barn is an App (gah–I hate that) for the iPhone that does a good job of keeping Mini focused and quiet for a few minutes. You start up the application and a barn appears, and then the kid touches the screen to get the barn doors to open.
Then you are greeted with one of about ten animals, with the name of the animal pronounced and spelled out on the screen. You can also guess who is hiding behind the doors by hearing the noise the animal makes before the barn doors open. Oh, and Peekaboo Barn works in either English or Spanish, so you can teach them the names of common farm animals in both English and Spanish.

Mini loves it. It took him a while to figure out that you can only touch one part of the screen at a time in order for it to work, but it is cool to see the gears turning in his little cutie pie head. He loves that he can press something and see it change on the screen immediately. As far as the animals go, he especially loves el gato (just like his dad, this one), and I love the illustrations, which are apparently done by a New Yorker contributor, Divva Srinivasan. Best part? It costs $1.99.

Please don’t make me want an iPhone. I really don’t want to want it. If I had one, I would be hip (well, latecomer hip, but still), and then I wouldn’t be able to wear Crocs anymore.

Screw the kids, *I* would play with that app(lication). That’s adorable. And it too makes me want an iPhone. How’s AT&T treating you?

AT&T sucks. It’s not as bad as the last time I had it, but it’s definitely not as good as Verizon.
