McKenna Jewelry Box

When my sister-in-law suggested that a jewelry box would be a good Christmas gift for my eldest niece , I thought, “Hey, I can do that!” and rushed off to the mall. What I didn’t realize then was that although many stores carry jewelry, the old-fashioned jewelry box is not as popular as perhaps it once was. Maybe it has been replaced by elfa storage systems and little china dishes or some other cutesy way of housing jewelry, I dunno. I even went into a well-known jewelry store from which I happened to have a gift card on me at the time, and asked if they carried jewelry boxes. They promptly looked at me like I was insane and said, “Uh, yeah, no, we don’t have that here.” So I left, ashamed to have thought that they would carry jewelry boxes. Or something.

Then I went to Pottery Barn, of all places, and found this jewelry box. It’s called the McKenna jewelry box, and the color is called “champagne,” though it really looks more silver in person. It even comes with a travel case and a lock with a fancy tassel. Score!

That is really lovely. Pottery Barn Kids is my favorite place for jewelry boxes.

It was indeed a great hit. It will hold all her new cheapo Claire’s earrings, and because it has a soft cover should survive the abuse I have no doubt it will take over the next few years. You neglected to mention it also has a built-in removeable travel jewelry box, which is a really nice addition. I never in a million years would have thought of Pottery Barn. Thank you!

@Crash Commanda, I’m glad she liked it. Oh yeah, we got home OK, and we all had a great time. Mini was playing with his bath bubbles tonight and looked at me, pointed to the bath, and said, “I like this.”
