If you ever are in Los Angeles, and you really like salad, then you should do yourself a favor and make the trek out to Pasadena to try the Dianne salad at Green Street Restaurant. From the outside, Green Street looks like just your average mid-range diner/family restaurant, but you can tell from the people waiting outside that there must be something special about this place. As it turns out, they have been there for more than 30 years, and though they might not have the most adventurous of menus, what they do, they do very well.
It would be hard to explain why the Dianne salad is so good–it is kind of like a Chinese Chicken Salad, but better. And there is something about the mixture of lettuce, almond slivers, chinese vermicelli noodles, and Green Street’s special Dianne salad dressing that is almost magical. Plus, every salad comes with a giant slab of yummy zucchini bread–an odd practice, I’ll admit, but nonetheless very appetizing.
When I first discovered the Dianne Salad, I made Mr. Right-Click go there several times within a few months–I was eating this salad two and three times a week at one point, in fact. If you are far away from the LA area, you can order one of their Dianne salad kits to make the salad at home. I have never tried this, but I can attest to their dressing being worth the price alone.
But I am not trying to do an ad for Green Street today. What I wanted to write about is the fact that I went to Trader Joe’s recently and saw a product called the “Pasadena Salad.” Upon further inspection, I realized that the ingredients to this salad are nearly identical to the Dianne Salad from Green Street Restaurant. Naturally, I had to sample it. The dressing even looks the same, and the taste comes very very close. So, apparently I am not the only one obsessed with the Dianne Salad . . . and Trader Joe’s is hoping to cash in on bringing this “Pasadena” (pshaw) salad to a more geographically diverse audience.
So I thought I’d just let you know, Trader Joe’s, that I’m on to you.
But don’t worry, I won’t tell them at Green Street. I’m pretty sure you’ve covered your tracks for copyright infringement anyway.

Los Angeles is where I was born and raised. I always thought I'd leave, but for some reason I never did. Sometimes, I like it here. Other times, I'm not so sure. But good or bad, it has made me who I am.
Sometimes I take the melodrama of my life and twist and turn it until it looks almost charming. I do this because I want you to like me:
He is my best friend, even if he uses a PC. And the fact that sometimes he will pretend to be a "Pancake Pirate" is only part of the reason. Arrrr!
His cutie-pie percentile group is off the charts.
If you think this is just about exercise, then you have underestimated how wildly inappropriate people can be when they undergo physical pain in a group setting.
